Biography

All I’ve ever wanted to do in life is make music.

I grew up in Perth, Australia and have surrounded myself in music all my life — from learning piano in school, to studying a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Australia, specialising in composition and operatic performance.

As an operatic and classical tenor, I have performed regularly with West Australian Opera, West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the St. George’s Cathedral Consort for over ten years in both solo and ensemble capacities.

In 2013, I founded West Australian Young Voices, which quickly grew to become the leading children’s choir in WA, supporting 70 children annually across 5 ensembles. I have also worked as the Children’s Chorus Master for West Australian Opera and Freeze Frame Opera across five productions.

I’m passionate about sharing music with the community. I have founded and directed many community choirs including The Rejoyce Choir, West Australian Vocal Ensemble (WAVE), Encore Ensembles, Rejoice Gospel Choir, West Australian Young Voices (WAYV), and Quire Voices.

I specialise in the composition of small and large scale choral pieces for ensembles of all levels. Since 2007, I have written works for Katie Noonan and the Australian Vocal Ensemble, Gondwana Voices, National Youth Choir of Australia, Giovanni Consort, Voyces, St George’s Cathedral, UWA Choral Society, MM Productions (Disney) and many more.

Sharing music through education is incredibly important to me. I have worked as a peripatetic singing teacher, vocal coach, and choral director in both primary and secondary schools across metropolitan and regional areas. My school-based work has often included choral arranging, composition, and support for school musicals and productions. In 2021, I presented a 10-part video series for West Australian Opera focussing on singing for children.

I now live in Melbourne, with my partner, Jordan, and our two British Shorthairs.
